Maybe if they weren’t so over priced.
or rude. I don’t mind ever paying a bit more for a family owned shop, but the customer service is what I expect as a result and rudeness is all I’ve ever received.
Sorry but this is how I’ve felt.
The one time I went in there, they started pushing their political viewpoints on me. I won’t be back. Aside from the fact that these viewpoints were, from my point of view, small minded and obnoxious, using your place of business to preach at your customers is just a bad idea. You’re sure to piss-off 50% of them.
I agree, viewpoints I saw are probably not how the district votes, so it is a little short sighted. And I have never thought political info was good business for a business.
Same experience, went there for flowers and instead got an ear full of anti-Obama and anti-healthcare rhetoric. Too bad I support both; no more business for you.
Why is chpn.net still allowing this shop owner to advertise on this site for free? I find it really insulting. I walk by her store every day and just shake my head at her little homemeade “socialism, blargh!!!!” and “rush is better than o(s)bama!” type signs in her windows. I really think chpn.net should simply post her web address and other contact info in the classified section of this site with all the other stores, and that is it. It almost seems like you are pandering to her and her beliefs by continuing to allow her to take up space on this website, where it has been made abundantly clear that she is in the vast minority.
I’m honestly glad to give space to any business in the neighborhood, whether I agree with their politics or not: I prefer a Republican florist to another empty storefront.
That Ms.Worssam has been so blunt about her politics has made that connection an enduring topic of discussion. It is perhaps likely that her shop has been completely tied to her politics to many people, and that some people will either be more or less inclined to shop there. We all get this context by now; I don’t think that this is reason to ignore one of the few retail establishments in the neighborhood.
I also want everyone in the community to feel that this site is at least a semi-neutral space regardless of my personal take on things, whether the topic is national politics or Echo Harbor. Please please please share your opinions here, but also understand that I work not to let mine influence what I post here.
John, as always, thanks for all you do – and the very thoughtful opinion in post #7.
