Have you seen Jack?
07/07/2014 8:46 PM by John M
Jack, the grey and white cat that monitors the 2700 block of E. Broad St. has been MIA from his home (2710 E. Broad) for a little longer than usual. He was last seen on the North side of 2700/E. Broad. If you’ve seen him, please call/text 804-564-9643. His family misses him!
Thanks so much for spreading the word @rdheadedblndrva . He was last seen on Friday July 4. Any info will help!
Pretty sure I saw him Saturday night at my place on 23rd and Leigh. Seemed to be in good spirits. Gave him some treats.
Thanks @Zach. Went into the area this afternoon to look around but it was a little overwhelming – would you mind please contacting me directly so I can have a little more of a targeted search? Thanks so much for your help!! 8045649643
Has he shown up yet? I’ve been walking around looking for him when I get off work at night (Hill cafe). No luck yet. He’s a cool cat, I hope he’s okay.
@Eric Claytor – no, he hasn’t. @CHPN you all are awesome though, thanks so much for all the reposts, the tips, all the businesses who let me put signs up, and residents who let me crawl around in their yards to look for him.
There have been a few sightings from as far as 31st and Marshall to the Union Hill area. He does have a few doppelgängers out there, but I appreciate any tip you might have. Jack needs to come home!
Thanks Church Hill!
Capt. Jack does have a heavyset doppleganger that hangs out in the vicinity of the Jefferson Ave Tric Gdn in the alley between 23rd/24th, M and Leigh Streets.
We just got this cat fixed thanks to Dr. Jack at Church Hill Animal Hospital. The Union Hill “Jack dopple ganger” is up for adoption. He needs a good home. He is very friendly and likes people and other cats. Contact me or Stacey Moulds if you are interested in adopting him.
Still no Jack? :o(
@Brian Colegrove, Nope, still no Jack. I had a kind soul call me on Saturday night telling me that he thought he saw Jack in the parking lot of the SunTrust bank around 11:45 that night. I went over, but just as I was approaching, a large group of motorcycles went by. If he was there, he got scared and hid.
@CHPN Thanks again so much to all of for continuing to keep your eyes peeled, especially if you are out between 25-29th street after dark (he might be out trolling). I’m convinced he’s still around!
@10, he probably is still around. I had a cat that got out when he was very young (four months old), and he actually hung around, even though he was totally confused with a huge thunder storm with lightening and thunder. He never went further than a block or so away, but stayed hidden most of the time, so I’d like to think that Jack is somewhere close. I think cats have a sense of geography. And I totally get the hiding when the motorcycles went by. He’s here somewhere. I’ll keep an eye out too….
Thanks again to those of you who are *still* contacting me to let me know of possible Jack sightings. He’s still at large, but as @crd pointed out, I think he’s still around too. @chpn, @Brian Colgrove, @Eric Claytor @rdheadedblndrva, please continue to keep your eyes out for Jack! Perhaps some colder weather will bring him back this way. Thanks so much, great neighbors!
I was thrilled to hear today that Jack was found. He appeared in the 2500 block of East Grace and apparently decided it was time for his owner to come and get him, which she did when she was contacted. Good ending to this one!
Thanks for the follow up, that’s awesome 🙂
John, it was a great story. He just showed up, and the lady at the house on Grace St. has a child, a little girl, who was entranced with this really totally affectionate cat who wanted to be petted but was also very very hungry. The lady thought she’d seen signs on the street at some point, but couldn’t find them (it had been months) so eventually she went HERE on CHPN and found the cat notice, texted back and forth to the owner, who then showed up after work. And the resource for figuring out who he belonged to was CHPN! YAY! A warm purry story!
