Can you support the RPD Day of Play?
The Richmond Police Department will be hosting “Day of Play” on Saturday, March 25th at Martin Luther King Jr. Middle School, to connect youth and police in the Richmond area through a field day of sports activities to build positive relationships.
A group of graduate students from the VCU Center for Sport Leadership has launched a crowd funding to raise money for the event:
We are a group of graduate students from the VCU Center for Sport Leadership, and we are launching the Richmond Police Relations Initiative.
Our mission is to build positive relationships between police and youth in the Greater Richmond Community through sport.
Day of Play presented by Richmond City Police on Saturday, March 25, 2017 at Martin Luther King Jr. Middle School will help us accomplish this mission. The event will connect Richmond Youth and Richmond Police through a field day of athletic activities that will use instruction, friendly competition and FUN to promote healthy relations.
To make this happen, we need YOU. Help us fund the event’s operating expenses while supporting the cause of healthy Police-Youth relations in the Richmond community.
IF we raise more than the operational costs, all extra funds will be donated to the Richmond Police Athletic League, which supports the same exact cause.
As of right now, they’ve raised $520 of $1,000 goal.

We are excited about this partnership. The graduate students from VCUs Center for Sports Leadership approached RPD about doing a community event that would focus on making a positive difference. The “Day of Play” is the result of that discussion. These young people wanted to reach out to a community where they could make an impact and build upon those successes in the future.
