  1. 14th Street Takeout / On the north bank of the river just east of the Mayo Bridge, on the river side of the floodwall. It is the first takeout as the James turns tidal. PHOTO by Andy Thompson
  2. Ancarrow's Landing / This functional waterfront space offers a boat launch, fishing access & a network of trails.
  3. Armstrong Bike Park / Mountain bike track and training ground for Richmond Cycling Corps
  4. Belle Island / Large flat rocks surrounding the island make for good sunbathing, but the water is rough around the rapids. Children should be supervised. Additional features include wooded trails, mountain biking, historical sites, & more.
  5. Bellevue Elementary Playground / School playground with great skyline view 2301 East Grace Street
  6. Bill Robinson Playground / Playground for children, with tennis courts, ball field 701 North 37th Street
  7. Buttermilk Trail (East End) / A fairly technical mountain bike and walking trail along the river
  8. Canal Walk / Connects the Capital Trail to Brown's Island and Belle Isle, and over to Oregon Hill.

  19. Evergreen Cemetery / A little farther east lies a historic and decrepit African-American cemetery dating from 1891. Famous graves include Maggie Walker and John Mitchell Jr. Visit for a true Southern Gothic experience.
  20. Flood Wall Walk / Popular with hikers, runners, and bird watchers, with plenty of spots to stop and watch the river at the beginning of the Falls of the James.

  26. Hebrew Cemetery / Founded in 1816, is one of the oldest Jewish cemeteries in the U.S.. The Soldier's Section is the only Jewish military cemeteries outside of Israel. 400 Hospital Street
