Leigh street resurfacing announced
05/27/2009 6:44 AM by John M
The City of Richmond Department of Public Works yesterday announced that sometime in the next month Leigh Street between Jefferson Avenue and Chimborazo Boulevard will be resurfaced.
Other projects include:
- Grove Avenue between Three Chopt Road and the Downtown Expressway
- Leigh Street between DMV Drive and Belvidere Street
- Idlewood Avenue between Boulevard and Robinson Street
- Idlewood Avenue between Harrison Street and Belvidere Street
- Thompson Street between Cary Street and Monument Avenue
TAGGED: Leigh Street
Someone should pay attention and pave Clay St…. Has anyone been on this that works in the city? This street is filled with pot holes, dips, bumps and such. I’m pretty sure my car’s shocks are toast due to this street. Wish it was on the list above….
This is also in conjunction with new sidewalks and ramps being constructed on the 500/600 blocks of North 29th Street as well as the 600 block of North 30th Street. The work is slated to start mid June and last 45 days (weather permitting).
This information was outlined in a letter from DPW left in my mailbox yesterday.
What’s up with all the sidewalk repair in CH North & Union Hill this week? I’ve never seen the likes of it around here before.
The western side of the 900 block of N. 26th St. is also getting a new brick sidewalk with street trees, too. This was also according to a letter I received from DPW.
sidewalks are absent in front of 801/803 north 24th– and up the block. these areas are heavily used by cedar st baptist and residents of church hill house. it is a bit frustrating to see good sidewalks taken up and replaced, when some heavily used areas have no sidewalks.
what about leigh st. on 21,22,23rd streets,,,where’s the love.
all of 31st street needs to be repaved!
OK…how many of you have driven up Broad Street from 18th to Belvidere and bounced around like driving on a washer board? They have torn up Broad for the last four years and have never replaced the surface, properly. Imagine what tourists think when coming off of I-95 and going to the new Hilton Garden Inn (Miller and Rhoads) or the Marriott? This has been a disgrace for long enough. Who is responsible for this resurfacing?
a disgrace no doubt…bill …think about how much wear and tear there is on the vehicles suspension and tires…over time that costs everybody, (that can actually afford a car.)
Bill Conkle, call the city on their 311 line (I can only reach it from home, at work the phones somehow cannot dial to it). Stay on the line and ask the operator for someone to talk to about sidewalks. I’ll bet you can at least place a complaint and possibly you can talk to someone who can make it happen, I had good luck with getting potholes filled by calling that line. Unfortunately, most of the potholes that I got filled two years ago are now back…
Bill Hartsock, I agree, have you called VDOT? I’m not sure if they’re responsible or if the city is. I will try to remember to call next week. Broad Street is responsible for my car’s shocks and struts being in sad shape, and it’s a pricey repair to fix them.
Since most of you are familar with N Belvidere @ Clay Sts. were any of you in the area around 5:30PM on May 27th,2009 and witnessed an accident? My daughter is a student at VCU, and was in the accident. Any help you can render is most appreciated. Thanks. You can email me at above. You can email me at “patabbboz@yahoo.com”
