New life for 2211 East Clay Street?
06/03/2014 9:30 AM by John M
Curious readers have noticed activity at the little building at 2211 East Clay Street / 2209 Jefferson Avenue.
The building was sold Sterling Bilder LLC on 04/25/2013 for $59,000. Sterling Bilder is the company behind the renovation of the East End Theater.
The property is zone Urban Business, and is located in both the Church Hill North City Old and Historic District and National historic District. The city’s online permit system doesn’t show any active permits for either of the addresses associated with that location.
I’ve put in a call to Josh Bilder, I’ll update if I hear anything.
Man, you are on it. I saw some positive activity going on there around 8:30. Made me hopeful for a new neighborhood business!
We drove by there yesterday, the space on the left is a bike repair shop. It appears the space on the right is still vacant.
Nothing will happen with this building for two years minimum. It’s a typical Richmond “buy and hold”. It’s not blight when the landowner doesn’t see it.
They’ve already replaced the bottom portion of the window frames with new wood. So we shall see.
I looked at purchasing this building some time ago. Believe it used to be a laundry mat. There’s not much of a interior left, but it has awesome skylights inside. Also, was for sale (at the time/doesn’t mean it worked out this way) with the lot next door/to the right. Lots of potential there.
I just drove by. They are back at work at it this morning!
