suspect arrested in 2003 shooting
07/06/2005 8:44 AM by John M
Richmond police announced that Broderick Frezelle Jones, 28, has arrested and charged with murder in the Oct. 14, 2003, shooting death of Damon Sherod Finney. Finney, 19, was shot to death on the back porch of his cousin’s home during a robbery attempt in the 2000 block of Fairmount Avenue.
The week after this shooting, we moved in a few blocks up the street. The big white ‘mobile precinct’ van was parked at 21st and Fairmount for few days as we were driving back and forth getting the house ready to move into.
Damon Was My Cousin And I’m Glad They Caught The Person That Did It. Because Damon Never deserved To Die And It Makes Me Mad Because It Took So Long To Catch The Guy That Did It. And I’m 11 And I Think I Was 9 When He Was Shot.
Damon was my best cousin and when he died it hurt me and it also hurt my aunt Lisa and Iris when he left I know that it hurt the whole family and we wish that it never happened.
