Second defendant in shooting death pleads guilty (RTD, 10/27/05)

Dedric A. Anderson, 23, of the 5500 block of Pony Farm Drive, pleaded guilty in Richmond Circuit Court on Monday to second-degree murder in the death of Gregory Brown, 30, of the 4500 block of Sprenkle Lane in Henrico County. Brown was found dead from a gunshot wound to the chest in the 2000 block of Creighton Road.

Authorities believe Anderson’s co-defendant, Brian O. Smith, was the trigger man.

Earlier this month, Smith was convicted by a jury of second-degree murder in Brown’s death. Smith, 25, of the 2200 block of Fairmount Avenue, was also found guilty of two counts of attempted robbery, two counts of using a firearm in a felony and of possession of a firearm by a felon.

Smith was sentenced to 56 years in prison. Anderson will be sentenced Dec. 19. He faces up to 15 years in prison.
