shooting at 32nd and M Streets?
11/12/2005 8:25 PM by John M
As yet unreported elsewhere, neighborhood sources are reporting a fatal shooting at 32nd and M Streets between 2:30 and 3:00 this afternoon.
I caught a second of it on the 6 o’clock news while having dinner. They said it was around 2, which is probably more accurate than what I said previously. I’ll be looking for more details on the news at 10.

i wonder if it is possible that he was shot by one of the many crack dealers that stand on that corner and the leigh st. corner 24 hours a day in the rain and snow. hummm
Why are there not more neighborhood watch communities? If you see these hoodlums on the corner of the street being suspicious call the police! Take back your neighborhood from these morons! If you have to call every day make it a habit… send the message… if they are going to stand there than they need to have an explanation. I’m in the process of trying to buy a house in the area and I’m having a hard time finding a place that I can feel safe. It’s pretty ridiculous if you ask me. Do me a favor and do a crime search starting in Sept 01 and look at the results… they are embarrassing… This area has so much potential and yet everbody seems so scared to take a stand. Lets stop talking about the problems and start being part of the solution! Who’s with me?
Paul — There are many community organizations across the area, of varying commitment. I live in the Fairmount area and we are members of the New Vision Civic League (which is active and growing). It does take people being organized and willing to make the calls to make the changes happen. I’ve got the po-pos on speed-dial… The 1st Precinct has been involved with New Visions to help us get neighborhood watch more effectively working in our sometimes-troubled area. Anyone can do this. Also, the city page with assessment info also has info about what the neighborhood organization would be for that specific address.
Parts of 32nd Street can be sketchy. From the Blue Wheeler Market at Marshall all the way up well past the intersection at M. On my way out on Friday night I saw a police car with a trailer parked at 32nd and Clay, it looked light the trailer had large flood lights. I assumed the police were going to light up the street. When I returned several hours later there were two police cars with lights on, but I didn’t see any lights. Not sure what was going on?
see where i lived before living in Richmond the corner side crack dealing would be snubbed out quick
here the police just tell you they cant do anything unless they see it. Where i lived before Richmond the police would be hiding on the roofs 2 blocks away with telescopic lens’s so they could see it then they would get rid of the problem.
There are other parts of Richmond where this wouldn’t be tolerated, either.
I walked out on my porch and saw the body lying in the street with a sheet over it. The gun shots were around 2pm on that Saturday. Here’s a tit for the police: Between 32nd and 33rd and Leigh and M has more drug and violent activity than any other part of Church Hill combined. I am all for joining a neighborhood watch or anything. I was disgusted to see a dead body on my street. Let’s do something.
