Two in custody in connection with carjacking-robbery in Church Hill: “Richmond Police have two people in custody in connection with a deadly carjacking-robbery in Church Hill Wednesday night. Police say they’re making good progress with the case, but anyone with information can call CrimeStoppers at 780-1000.”
From what I understand, this area of CH has been relatively quiet as far as crimes. This incident happened two blocks from where I am buying a house- cause for concern?
Or is this abnormal for the area around George Mason Elem?
From the crime map and my own experience, that area is generally quiet and safe, if maybe a little dicey at times. Most of the incidents are in the higher traffic corridors to the east, west, and north, or in the higher density areas to the north and west.
GH. This is an isolated incident for this area. You are right, this area is pretty quiet and that’s why I bought a house also about 2 blocks away.
29th and O is the southwest intersection of the old Railroad Social Club, which is supposed to become TeenCity (the East End Teen Center, led by Councilwoman McQuinn) . There’s mural on the building that describes the place as a “sanctuary.” It’s right in front where the incident took place.
