Malone to challenge McQuinn for City Council seat; any questions?

Reggie Malone, current representative of the East End on the School Board, will challenge Delores McQuinn for the 7th District seat on City Council.
Saying that he is running “because the district is not progressing and moving forward in the areas of public safety and social services, ” Malone states that he will run “as a supporter of the mayor and his vision for the city”. (As reported in the print-only Richmond Free Press.)
So, readers, this is the deal: We’ll be trying to arrange interviews with both Malone and McQuinn in the near future. What questions would you like to see asked, or what general topics would you like to see addressed?
Public safety is the biggest issue. Lets ask both individuals to list tangible steps/actions they can immediately implement to help reduce crime. Hire more officers, increase patrols…
I wonder how someone on the school board can claim any simpatico with the Mayor. Seems a bit of a wishful stretch. But, he is certainly swimming in a shallow puddle here.
Looks like a third candidate that represents the growing, more affluent sections of this district might be able to sneak in here here and win this thing if they organize correctly.
This is the guy who appeared in the last city council meeting as a representative of the School Board and gave a rather curious and wholly self serving speech (rife with non-sequitors) on his new found alliance with Wilder on the issue of the Board and their City Hall digs. Loupassi essentially made fun of him minutes later, chiding him for what Loupassi rightfully thought was Mr. Malone’s rather transparent effort to get himself on TV. Ahh, local politics in the age of public access cable. So, I would ask Mr. Malone, who appears to be a local contemporary of Mr. Wilder, as to whether his newly found political alliance with Mr. Wilder has any policy legs. Or, whether it is merely political opportunism (or, more pointedly, whheter it is bilateral in nature). Lord knows we do not need a Wilder puppy on council. We need someone with some independent ideas and has the gravitas to stand up to the good Mayor on issues of local importance. Those issues are obviously public safety planning and finance; youth engagement; poverty deconcentration (public housing reform; and the nature and relative quality of development in our district.
Mr.Malone is running for what. He won’t get my vote. Mr. Malone is a opportunist and seems to me that he wants to run for anything that is available. This man has campaigned for city council 3x, sherrif 1x, and was trying to go for delegate as well. I’m personally satisfied wih my councilwoman whom has made tremendous effort in turning this district around in a positive way. I’m going for McQuinn……………
