a great website: Activate Richmond
Activate Richmond is an all-volunteer organization that makes it easy to get involved in community volunteering.
They connect individuals or groups to one-time or on-going volunteer projects with local nonprofit agencies that are in need of volunteer assistance. Activate Richmond take the “work” out of volunteering by locating nonprofit agencies and setting up the events/opportunities. All that’s left for the wanna-be volunteer to do is volunteer!
You can sign-up to become involved on a regular basis, or just pick an opportunity and make your little difference in the word. Right now they are featuring two wonderful and different volunteer-needing events. They need volunteers April 1 to work the Monument 10k at water stops and post race activities. They also need volunteers on April 8 to help a 99 year-old-woman with basic household maintenance (painting, yardwork, etc). Visit Activate Richmond to find out more.

This is a great site! I’ve just signed up for the April 8th assignment. Hope to see some of you there!
I am one of the coordinators of this initiative and I am leading the project to support the citywide Earth Day event down on the river. The event encourages people to walk, bike etc to the event so a few of us are going to bike from Church Hill. If any of you are interested in volunteering at this event we can coordinate a meet up at one of the coffee shops and bike down….. Check out the website and sign up!
