Richmond Police Dept. restructured
07/08/2006 9:03 AM by John M
Citing a desire for a “full focus on narcotics in the precincts as well as focus on violent crime in those drug areas”, Richmond Police Chief Rodney Monroe restructured some of the department. Of note for the area, Sector 111 Lt. Michael Snawder will move to training, Lt. Jack King will be coming to the 1st Precinct, and Sector 313 Lt. Cindy Riley was assigned to community-assisted policing. [via]
TAGGED: crime
Does anyone know the names of any gangs operating in church hill and the surounding housing projects??? Just curious thats all…
I think everyone would at least be interested in knowing what the gang colors in our area are. It could be like bird watching. Maybe it could also help in reporting observed crime.
There seems to be slight variations in the hue and level of, excuse the term, “tucked-ined-ness” of that staple of inner city haute couture: the white t-shirt. And why not, it is a great look (simple, clean, easily borrowable among housemates) and really cuts down on the identifiability of the whitey sporting minority who chose to wreck a little societal havoc. I think I actually read in the TD with regard to the July 4th baseball bat attacks (with apologies to Mr. Williams) that the suspects (or to Mr. Williams, and the RPD Sargeant: combatants), were wearing white t-shirts. Now, that narrows it down. Like describing a male college student as sporting a backwards baseball cap and dirty flip flops. In sum, however, the white t-shirt offers a vast improvement over that Tommy Hilfiger/Nautica craze among inner city youth that burdened society not long ago. (what’s the signal for “just kidding” in internet blogspeak?)
Does anyone have any suggestions on what to do if we do know of crime in our neighborhood? I have a drug dealer that moved in on my street and is doing a birsk business 24 hours/day from their front steps. I’m hesitant to contact the police as I’d like to retain my annonimity.
At the Citizens’ Request page for the city, you can report ‘Criminal Activity’, though this might not be annonymous.
You can call the non-emergency police line and just not leave your name (646-5100). Or you may want to try and contact the appropriate sector Lt. directly — Sector 111 (south of Nine Mile/Carrington) Sector 113 (north of Nine Mile/Carrington).
You can also submit your info to me and I’ll pass it along to the po-po’s that I know in the area.
If you report a crime and give your name contingent on anonymity, there is a statute that prevents the police from disclosing your name – the purpose of the statute is to prevent retribution. Always affirmatively request that your name remain anonymous.
