Even more about the train

The RTD has another column about the train tunnel, with some more background and updates. Gives a mention of the nascent Friends of Jefferson Park and has a picture of Engine 231.
I have to give it to Holmberg, he does a great job of covering the train. I just wish that the RTD would get it right on the location. The tunnel collapse took place under Jefferson Park. Jefferson Park is in Union Hill. The name of the tunnel is the Church Hill Tunnel, but the portion of the tunnel where the collapse took place is in Union Hill.
Please check out the pictorial tour of Jefferson Park. It states over and over again that Jefferson Park is in Church Hill. It’s not.
I did send an email to an RTD information specialist and provided him historical data that shows the park and train tunnel in Union Hill. I am hoping that corrections to the site are in the works.
Union Hill’s identity is intertwined with the story of the tunnel and its collapse. When we see the story in print, folks should associate the tunnel and Jefferson Park with our neighborhood. Peace.
Bill, I’m glad I’m not the only one tooting that horn. Even the City of Richmond’s web site has it wrong! The train IS IN UNION HILL…..
