David Herring nominated; your vote can help
ACORN’s David Herring has become one of the top five semifinalists in Virginia for the 5th Anniversary Volvo for Life Awards, Volvo’s national search for everyday heroes that gives out nearly $1 million in awards and funding each year.
David was niominated a while back for this program because of the extraordinary work he is doing (and has done for years) to help others in their community , and this year Volvo has selected him as one of the top five nominations from our stateout of more than 16,000 nominations they have received over the past five years!
This year, YOU have a chance to vote in the awards, nd your vote could help David Herring become eligible to receive up to $50,000 in funding for his organization, a chance to attend the 5th Anniversary Awards Gala in New York City, and maybe even a Volvo for life. Cast your vote at volvoforlifeawards.com. You won’t be asked to provide any personal information; all it takes to vote is to check a box and click a button.
I love ACORN! He just got my vote! Thanks for bringing it to our attention.
David has been a tireless advocate for the preservation of our neighborhoods. Ka-ching. Count my vote.
David started A.C.O.R.N. back in the 90s. He got Dixon Kerr (and, a couple of years later, me) to join forces and we got things officially moving in 1998– after being frustrated with the lack of understanding regarding conservation, home ownership, and community. I am SO proud of him and thank everybody who casts votes. (Evidently, you can vote multiple times, so do it often from now until February 2007!)
anyone who lives in a city neighborhood, anyone who supports urban revitalization, architectural preservation, sustainable development, and wants to make sure the east end is a diverse, dedicated, progressive, dynamic community needs to get out and vote for David – he deserves this award, and should he win, i’m confident that Richmond residents will reap the rewards – he is just that kind of person!
