MKL Middle School evacuated for gas leak
09/15/2006 1:34 PM by John M
School was cancelled today at MLK MIddle School when a gas leak was discovered as the staff and students arrived this morning. The students were transported to the Arthur Ashe Center for the remainder of the shortened school day.
nbc12.com has the story, with some video.
I wondered what was up. I was riding my bike back from the gym this morning and noticed the activity around the school. I guess a gas leak is better than the other thoughts I had about what it could have been.
It is certainly of a certain era for public architecture. I’m pretty certain that it would last forever… From the inside it works well — every classroom has windows to fresh air & sunlight, the library is centrally located, it can be made to feel much smaller that it is, etc.
