Things are looking good at Jefferson Park; cleanup planned for Oct.14.

A big thank you goes out to the City’s Department of Public Works and Department of Parks, Recreation and Community Facilities.

This past week DPW has done some major mowing along with vegetation control on the park hillsides and along Cedar Street at the base of the park. They have also been working on trimming trees and raising the tree canopy in the park.

Other recent improvements include: new trash cans, grafitti removal playground maintenance, repairs to the fitness trail, new traffic/park signage, reopening of comfort station in the daytime, new flower beda, lighting of the bandstand, new kiosk/bulletin board, repairs to the rail fence in the Jefferson Ave Triangle, and repairs to bricks on the bandstand.

Jefferson Park is becoming a proud centerpiece for the Union Hill Historic District. But there is more work to be done and you can help:

On Saturday, October 14th at 9am there will be the 1st park clean-up, including the lower portions of the Park along Marshall and Cedar Streets, near the train tunnel entrance. PLEASE consider coming out for an hour or two to help out. Contact julia.stokes@genworth.com to volunteer. This is our park and together we can make a big difference.
