2 shootings last night
10/15/2006 8:19 AM by John M
A 37-year-old man was shot and wounded last night at about 7:15 p.m. in the 400 block of North 32nd Street. At least one person died in another shooting just after midnight near the area of 20th and P streets. Shots were fired into a white sedan that crashed between two apartment buildings in little Mosby.

I heard that 2nd shooting. It was like 6 or 7 shots, boom boom boom…
Yeah, I live on that street. There were 8 shots fired inside 416 north 32nd st. The victim was shot in the back. The police blocked off everything on the street and were here for hours. Now maybe we can do something about the drug dealing that goes on in that house. This is the second shooting there in 2 months.
In the 2nd shooting:

It sounds like that house is becoming Church Hill’s answer to the THUNDERDOME where, as the Mad Max movies tell us “Two Men Enter…One Man Leaves”
2nd shooting in my 2 months on the hill. Good Lord, where have I moved? I thought that this was a relatively safe area. Drug house… which house is that? Please send someone to buy my house on 31st so I can get the heck out of here.
cbrown — If you can look beyond the deaths of those ‘in the game’, the area is realtively safe. It is the exception that is jarring and is what should rattle you.
Crime is dropping, and fairly drastically. To see the numbers, go to the crime map page. Click on ‘months’ to see reported crime by month, going back a few years. Or, fiddle with the settings on the map and check out different time periods.

Excuse me. I couldn’t quite understand your posting Mr. CHP. Is this a spell to keep crime away? a nursery rhyme? a line from your favorite song? What does this have to do with crime in our area?

Methinks that before too long CHP is going to be “running” cell block C.
John,
I am sorry to disagree with you, but while crime statistically may be dropping in some areas, there have been no less than two shootings in two months on 32nd st. Neither of which are located on the crime stat sheets. These seem to list crimes that are easy to monitor and write tix for, but what about the fighting, shooting and drug dealing that happens that isn’t on the crime sheets?
Audrey,
I also live on 32nd St and have also been increasingly concerned with the house of drug dealers that have made our block what it is now. I am in the very early stages of starting a Neighborhood Watch and have been speaking CAPS and Lt. King about them. I also got a list of the calls for service to the RPD for the past month and a half and there were not nearly as many calls to that house as I had expected. You can e-mail me if you would like to be a part of our neighborhood watch or if you would like a copy of the calls for service list. But you are totally right about the crime increasing on our street. I have been here 2.5 years and it is only within the past three months or so that I have actually been scared to go out front.
I’m pulling my data directly from the RCP site. Sometimes incidents are added weeks after-the-fact, and I miss them.

Can you please send me your information for the Neighborhood watch you are starting? I’d be happy to join and help- there has just been way too much crime here in the past 3 months- it has to be stopped. This is getting out of control- our street could be a really lovely street if we can stop the crime.
Audrey, I do not have your email and I am out of town for a few days. You can contact me at get416out@hotmail.com.
