Fairmount: now with less tires
04/14/2007 11:15 AM by John M
Thanks to everyone that turned out for New Vision Civic League’s Fairmount Clean-up this morning! We got a lot more accomplished than I though was possible, including getting rid of over 70 tires, 4 mattresses, and a handful of random appliances.
It is worth noting that 2 members of the Richmond Police Department came out to help, Lieutenant Hamlet Hood of Sector 113 and Commander John Keohane. The 3 guys from the city driving the trucks were also went above and beyond and really helped up us get this finished before the rain came in. Special thanks to Heather for bringing the pick-up sticks and the bags!
I always enjoy working with neighbors with positive attitudes towards their communities.
We worked hard today. I spoke to several citizens that are the cause of us picking up trash. Hopefully they got the message, littering etc. is very dispespectful to our communities.
Remember please join us on April 21st at 8 am for our First Precinct problem solving workshop, the more citizens from the same neighborhood that come will definitely get my attention and resources.
In closing – I enjoyed working with the new Vision Civic group in the neighborhood clean-up and meeting new faces within the community. Take Care
