The Salvation Army Boys and Girls Club at 3701 R Street is raising money to send some of the hard-working students from their afterschool progam to Disney.

From a flyer at Captain Buzzy’s:

The Salvation Army Boys and Girls Club at 3701 R Street sponsors an after school program with a 2 hour monitored study hall. After finishing their homework, the children receive a nutritious meal and then an opportunity for recreation. These children work very hard at school and maintain very good overall behavior, scholor or honor role grades and are involved in both school and club activities. After they are successful in the program, the become the new monitors for the others.

The Have a Heart Council of the Boys and Girls Club decided to create an Educational Reward Incentive for these hard-working students so that they would stay on track. After talking with the families thet decided that a 5 day bus trip to Disney in Florida would give them a tangible reward for their hard work and allow most to have the kind of vacation that they could only dream about.

Tour cost is approximately $500 per participant, all inclusive. Your donation is tax deductible. To help out, make checks payable to The Salvation Army Boys & Girls Club and mail to Lawanda Rowe, Salvation Army Boys & Girls Club, 3701 R Street, Richmond, Va, 23223.
