McQuinn at the CenterStage meeting

Video of Seventh District Representative McQuinn explaining her vote on the CenterStage proposal (along with the other council members) has recently been put online by community activists following the story.

All 7th district residents should contact councilwoman McQuinn and ask her to begin sponsoring amendments to the CenterStage agreement. It is not too late to amend the agreement passed on Sept. 10 to include basic taxpayer oversight and limit the city’s longterm liability for the project. As Ms. McQuinn said herself after the meeting, this was a “rushed vote.” And she and her fellow legislators are able to fix the mess they made at any time.

No, we won’t get new or improved schools because of the current chaos at City Hall, but at least the business community got their expensive, unstudied arts center, unsullied with public feedback thanks to a hurried city council vote.
