New and renovated schools plan revisited
10/09/2007 6:39 AM by John M
A draft update on the school system’s facilities master plan, a step toward Mayor L. Douglas Wilder’s “City of the Future”, was presented to City Council last night. The plan includes efforts to replace George Mason Elementary and Woodville Elementary, renovate and add to Martin Luther King Jr. Middle, and evaluate Bellevue Elementary School for closing. [via]
While I support the “City of the Future” concept, I grow tired of it being used as a political strategy to distract us from the issues at hand.
I applaud Mayor Wilder’s choice of Sheila Hill-Christian as the new Chief Administrative Officer of our City. She is a proven leader and problem solver. She brings with her a can-do attitude, with the ability to work with others to bring about positive changes. In my opinion she has always been fair minded and keeps the well being of the City and her residents in the forefront. She has a great record of public service.
