7th District Town Hall Meeting this week
10/23/2007 4:36 PM by John M
As a follow up the last month’s meeting, Delores McQuinn’s 7th District Town Hall Meeting will be Thursday, October 25th at 6:30PM at the Neighborhood Resource Center in Fulton Hill.
I won’t be able to make this. If anyone that attends would like send a paragraph or 3 describing what happens…
Why go listen to a professional politician? What we need is a leader, not a politician. A leader leads by example. A leader would never ask someone to do something that they would not do themselves.
This is why the public should attend: to take advantage of the opportunity to express your view point on the issues. It is partly the citizens’ responsibility to keep our representives in touch with the community. And if the representative is not responsive, we need to continue to make our voice known.
To annen, its a shame that you and others on this site don’t have anything else to do but attack our leader. A leader is one who leads and our representaive has been doing just that. This site, blog or whatever in my opinion, has nothing better else to do but think about Rev. McQuinn and how you can try to bring her down. Mr. Murden himself allows this foolishness and their is always a conversation about Rev. McQuinn. Lets talk about Wilder and how arrogant he is.Lets talk about how we can help the school system. Lets talk about love and stop hating each other. Lets talk about the racist bastards that are on this site. Lets talk about economic development over here.Lets talk about the miserable jerks that on here and how they need help. People who constantly think about one person are definitely miserable.
(This comment has been edited to remove possibly slanderous statements about people other than Mr.Murden. Thanks, John)
I think it’s okay to discuss McQuinn, Wilder, and give your opinion on any issue – no matter what your position may be. I don’t like the personal attacks, though, or the calling out of people. It’s that kind of comment that really detracts from the conversation.
It wasn’t slander , it was the truth.
Ooooo. I’m sorry I missed alicia’s comment before the edit. Was I mentioned?
alicia, (what remains of) your post is painfully ironic. In one sentence, you call for everyone to stop hating each other, and in the next you are calling others “racist bastards.” If you want to take issue with a point someone has made, knock yourself out, but to run straight to the race card doesn’t serve the greater good, much less foster a loving atmosphere.
On the merits, I will simply observe that Wilder has been the target of boatloads of sniping on here. Rev. McQuinn is certainly not alone.
“A leader is one who leads “… well that clears that up…
I would follow our local representatives anywhere… generally out of a morbid curiousity to see what they are going to screw up next.
If you disagree with a comment, post a response to the issue. Formulate an argument supporting your viewpoint. Attacking the poster takes away from your credibility.
Good Mike….I’m glad you think that . That’s why the people elected her.And to Archie Bunker who is a Wilder clone,I said what needed to be said. There are racists remarks on this website and if you don’t like it , the hell with you to.
What’s with all user names with links that do not go to real web pages?
Alicia — I attempt to approach this site in such a way that my personal politics are not the issue or possibly even that obvious. I do my best to spread the word about and cover both McQuinn’s meetings and the Mayor’s Roundtable meetings. Please do not confuse my intentions with the comments posted in response to any of the articles.
I too would like to see a higher level of discourse. I have previously stated my feeling regarding abusive comments here and here. With that said, your approach to dialog has been very combative and unnecessarily personal. Please consider that we are all neighbors here, and that you do not know everyone and their motivations, interests, etc. Please feel free to contact me directly at murden@gmail.com if you would like to discuss this further.
You might be interested a lively thread from a little while back the engendered much discussion on helping local schools. There are others in the
“schools” category.
I dunno — what street do you live on?
I’m a Wilder clone? Oh. My. God. That’s easily the funniest thing I’ve heard in a month. I’m hardly a Wilder supporter. But, remember this alicia, “the people” elected Wilder, too … by a landslide. You seem to think that only one of them is fair game for criticism, whereas I am far more equal opportunity.
And, what racist remarks? And, why should I go to Hell if I don’t like racist remarks? I’m very confused, alicia. Please enlighten me.
I’m on Broad, john_m.
nope, she missed you.
Richmond has way too many problems to blame them on one or two politicians. I can understand the frustration, but realize it took many years to get in this situation, schools, crime, poverty, zoning issues, and it will take time to work out from them.
The police have really done an excellent job in the last few weeks of responding to loitering and drug dealing around our neighborhood, Fairmount, and we sure appreciate it.
Have Hope!
“Lets talk about love and stop hating each other. Lets talk about the racist bastards that are on this site.” Wow! I bet you ripped your gears changing directions that fast. And these comments from the person that represents the City at functions across this city.
You mean that commenter represents Richmond at local events? Are you sure? I hope not.
whatever
Alicia, are you actually Alicia Raisin? Please explain, you apparently are being identified as THAT Alicia. You might want to clarify, thanks.
I came back to check and see what happened on 10/25. I’m surprised not to find a single comment about the gathering. Can anyone report?
Normally I would go and have some kind of post. I had class that night, though.
Why don’t you reveal yourself Celeste.
Hey folks! This is getting too personal and uncivil for no apparent reason so I’m going to shut this one down.
