This is very sad.
Please double-check your own smoke alarms to make sure they are in working order. Whether you rent or own your home, it is in your best interest to make sure your smoke alarms work. It is also a good idea to practice an escape route in case of a fire, especially if you have kids.
Pass the word that free smoke alarms are available. If it is in your heart, assist a neighbor with the installation.
As the weather gets cold, we are going to see a jump (once again) in house fires and possibly the loss of other lives. Let’s do what we can to promote a safe winter.
Please scout out your neighbors and make sure they are aware that the City Department of Fire and Emergency Services offers free smoke detectors to City Residents. Call 646-1526 for more information.
The woman has been identified as 49-year-old Robin Ragin.
