you are invited to the Greater Richmond Challenge
Ever wonder why your neighbors, colleagues or family members seem to view the Richmond region differently than you? If so, apply to the Greater Richmond Challenge taking place May 8-9 and see the region through the eyes of a fellow resident.
Greater Richmond Challenge III: A Civic Adventure will bring together a diverse group of local leaders and community members for a two-day, hands-on exploration of our region in the areas of quality of life and economic development.
Explore Richmond, Chesterfield, Hanover and Henrico with 100 other civic minded individuals in an action-packed, challenging and invigorating adventure. You’ll have 36 hours and nine teammates to share your passion for exploring, understanding and interpreting the issues at hand – crime, public safety, education, land use, and affordable workforce housing.
This year you will have the chance to explore these topics through the eyes of a fellow Richmond region resident.

All applications must be received by February 15, 2008.
It costs $399.00 to volunteer your time for this program.
Damn, I missed that part. Sponsored by Phillip Morris, Media General, and Dominion Power and it still costs $400? Kind of clarifies who the target audience *isn’t*, anyway.
Wow if I had $400 to waste on garbage like this that would be a totally new perspective for me.
Please note the $399 does cover the cost for an overnight stay at the Omni as well as 5 meals and transportation during the 2 day event. Financial scholarships are available. The Challenge is a truly unique opportunity for Richmond-area residents to explore the region and get to know over 100 local residents.
What happens to the final report? How are the 100 citizens chosen?
Scott McLaughlin, just in case there are folks who might want to apply for a scholarship, can you provide a weblink for the application…possibily in a PDF or HTML format?
This might already be on the GRCC website, (if it is, it’s a little hard to find).
Thanks!
If you work during the week, this “adventure” also offers you the opportunity to take 2 days of vacation, since May 8 & 9 are a Thursday and Friday.
