city accepting applications for Summer Youth Employment Program
The City of Richmond Youth and Workforce Development Division is now accepting Youth Eligibility Pre-Screening Applications for the 2008 City of Richmond Youth Academy Summer Session from May 1- May 30, 2008. The Youth Academy Summer Session will offer participants, ages 14 to 17 workforce opportunities and placement from Monday, June 30, 2008 to Friday, August 8, 2008.ÂÂ
Youth will be required to complete up to 25 hours of workforce skill development and training activities each week. Each youth will be assigned a placement site and complete all components of the session during the designated time frame. Participants will be provided a modest financial stipend and transportation assistance will be made available, if needed.
Visit the City of Richmond, Human Resources Department website to apply for the session or contact 646.7491 for more information. Selected youth will be contacted directly to complete the official eligibility screening in May/June 2008.
I am interested in working this summer but I am a little too young right now. But I would love to learn sum work skills for next year when I can hopefully get a work permit
Do they actually do any work? It appears that they do 25 hours a week of skill development and training. And does anyone follow up with whether any graduates of this program get jobs?
