Church Hill Dog Park opens on Saturday
08/14/2008 11:00 AM by John M
The Grand Opening of the Church Hill Dog Park is Saturday from 9AM to noon. A K-9 rescue demonstration, police dogs, a demonstration of the use of a dog/cat oxygen masks, and various local organizations such as Pets at Play, Dog Talk with Jennifer Kyzer, Best Friends Sanctuary, Richmond SPCA will be present. Shortly after 9am there will be a ceremonial throwing out of the milkbone to Radar and Baker and toward noon a Best Dog Trick Contest will be judged.
I would pay to see a someone wrestle an oxeygen mask onto a cat
There will be opportunities to take part in some retail therapy at the dog park grand opening. The RSPCA’s Lora Robbins Gift Shop will have a table, as well as items from Beggar’s Bones.

Thank you for that interesting fund raising suggestion!! Are you volunteering to be that “someone’??
The city just sent out a press release about this:
Why does the dog look dead in the poster?
Hah, it’s Baker and Radar who get the first bones and I love how my last name was misspelled.
Not to mention the park is at the end of 36th and E Broad Streets more so than 32nd and E Broad.
That’s just in case anyone was wonderin’.
I will try to be there Saturday because I LOVE the little dog area. Yesterday I ran around like an insane person. I really like the red fire hydrants- nice attention to detail! And to all you little dogs in the ‘hood- come down and chill with me, I need some little homies to chase around!
Peace!

the poster dog isn’t dead, silly… he is RUNNING like the wind!!!!
Second Richmond dog park opens today (RTD 8/16/08)
it looks like the dogs back leg is also mysteriously missing. was it hit by a car? also the front leg may also be missing. poor thing
oh and the tail looks too small for the body and may have been somehow mangled? is it one of vick”s dogs???
To everyone involved, congrats on the grand opening. This’ll be a great addition to the neighborhood for a long time to come.
Just wanted to say thanks to the organizers of today’s events. It will be absolutely WONDERFUL to have this dog park right here in beautiful Church Hill for all of us to utilize and enjoy! My dog Missie LOVES coming to the park and has made lots of new doggie friends.
Tired dog=happy pet parent 🙂
Again , THANK YOU for seeing this project through to completion.
Congratulations and thanks for your hard work!
Grass roots initiatives are what keeps the community alive!
