Oakwood Heights back to CAR on Friday
09/10/2008 6:40 AM by John M
On Friday, September 12, 2008, the Commission of Architectural Review (CAR) will hold two special meetings, to discuss the Oakwood Heights project located in the 3600 blocks of Broad and Marshall streets. The first meeting will begin at 2:00pm with interested members of the public. The second meeting will begin at 3:30pm with Fulton Hill Properties and their architect. Both meetings are open to the public. [via]
Most “interested members of the public” are working at 2 p.m. or 3:30 p.m. on a Friday afternoon. Does anyone know if these meetings were just scheduled this week? Whether you are for or againist the project, or just want to come because you are interested in what is going on in your neighborhood, such late notice makes it even more difficult for the public to attend.

On Friday, September 12, 2008, the Commission of Architectural Review (CAR) will hold two special meetings in the Fifth Floor Conference Room at City Hall, 900 East Broad Street, to discuss the Oakwood Heights project located in the 3600 blocks of Broad and Marshall streets. The first meeting will begin at 2:00pm with interested members of the public. The second meeting will begin at 3:30pm with Fulton Hill Properties and their architect. Both meetings are open to the public.
Objective: To afford interested members of the public an opportunity to discuss the project with the CAR outside of a public hearing and to afford Fulton Hill Properties and their architect an opportunity to discuss design modifications to the Oakwood Heights Project that seek to bring the project into compliance with the guidelines.
Date: Friday September 12, 2008
Location: Fifth Floor Conference Room, City Hall
Time:  2:00 PM Meeting No. 1— Interested members of the public and the Commission of Architectural Review
3:30 PM Meeting No. 2—Fulton Hill Properties and the Commission of Architectural Review
Discussion at each meeting will be organized around CAR’s agenda (below) and the meeting schedule will be strictly observed. The Commission will discuss the guidelines and provide input on drawings, concepts, and related issues that have been submitted by the project architect. While these meetings will not serve as public hearings and no vote will be taken, both meetings are open to the public to attend and observe. In Meeting No. 1 discussion will be limited to the Commission, Staff, and the Public. In Meeting No. 2 discussion will be limited to the Commission, Staff, Fulton Hill Properties, and their architect. Minutes will be kept for each meeting.
CAR staff is providing notice by e-mail to those who have communicated with staff on this project, posting notice of the meetings in City Hall, and sending mailings directly to all property owners within 150 feet of the proposed project site.
Agenda Items for Both Meetings:
Configuration of parking and access driveways
Landscaping and screening of parking
Location and screening of dumpsters and HVAC equipment
Multi-story walkways
Mansard roofs on buildings 1A (Broad Street façades) and 2B (Marshall Street façades)
