Italian Festival this Saturday, Sunday
10/01/2008 6:47 AM by John M
The Italian Festival takes over 25th and Broad Street this Saturday and Sunday. Promoters plan attendance upwards of 10,000 this weekend, rain or shine. Hours are Saturday, October 4th from 11AM to 9PM and Sunday, October 5th from 11AM to 6PM.
I thought this festival was leaving the hill. I remember discussions about that last year.
There is an article on richmond.com that explains why the Italian Festival is held in Church Hill and why it didn’t move locations this year.
Make sure to stop by Bellevue Elementary School’s booth at the Italian Festival and enter our raffle. Area businesses have graciously given us valuable gift certificates, services, and items for you to win! Here is a partial list of participating businesses: Bookbinders, Patrick Henry Pub and Grille, Sette, Poe’s, Relish, It Must Be Heaven, The Hill Cafe, the Eric Schindler Gallery/artists Lisa Taranto and Nicholas Cossitt, two St. Gertrude’s House Tour tickets, 6 months supply of Frontline for any size dog or cat from the Church Hill Animal Hospital, and more.
Money raised for Bellevue Elementary will fund after school programs such as African Dance, Choir, Reader’s Theatre, Sports, Crafts, Sewing, Drums, Writer’s Open Mike, and pay for new stage curtains for our historic auditorium, class field trips, classroom needs, etc.
Look for the Dragon from the Castle on the Hill and join us in making our beautiful historic Bellevue the neighborhood’s first choice.
I wish this was a different weekend from Jackson Ward’s 2nd Street Festival. I could be wrong, but it seems like the competition for these neighborhood festivals hinders more than helps. If my stomach will let me, I will try to attend both.
Can anyone confirm the ending time on Saturday? There is conflicting information on the website (8 pm and 9 pm).
The passes they sent us say it ends at 8 pm on Saturday.
Play attention: the right order of the colors for the italian flag is(to the left):green, white, red.
All the best
Michele Biz
what about the flag viewed from the other side?
