Edmonds stands with Green, Goldman to support Patrick Henry Initiative
10/03/2008 12:35 PM by John M
Mayoral candidate Paul Goldman, 7th district school board candidate Torey Edmonds, and Antione M. Green (president of the Richmond Crusade for Voters) made a joint appearance yesterday to show support for the Patrick Henry Initiative. From the RTD:
Edmonds, who is black, said parents in her community are looking for something better than they are getting from the city’s public schools. “On the one hand, you can’t be unhappy with the school system and on the other hand shut the door to opportunities,” Edmonds said after the news conference in front of the former Patrick Henry Elementary School.
I’m glad Edmonds is supporting the charter but I wish both Edmonds and Coleman had stopped by the Bellevue School Booth at the Italian Festival and given an east end school a little support. I know the Coleman campaign knew about it because they had a booth several blocks down from us and I stopped by and reminded his followers but maybe Edmonds never got the email. Anyhow, I invited Edmonds, Coleman, and West and no one came by in support of our school. It’s not a big deal and I understand they receive lots of email, etc but I must say, I’m disappointed. Even one of Coleman’s followers said they were sending someone to place flyers at Bellevue’s booth and I told him that wouldn’t be appropriate because a public school cannot endorse a candidate but I did tell them they should stop by and support Bellevue’s efforts and they didn’t. Yes I’m very disappointed.
Oh, two elected officials did respond to my email and they didn’t have to -Kim Bridges and Carol Wolf.
