Renovators open house @ Elmira Shelton House
Celebrate with the Alliance to Conserve Old Richmond Neighborhoods and Restoration Builders of Virginia (RBVa) and see the completed restoration of the historic Elmira Shelton House. According to local lore, Edgar Allen Poe’s sweetheart, Elmira Shelton, was living in this residence in Church Hill “when she bade Poe farewell in September 1849”, said Mary Wingfield Scott in her book Old Richmond Neighborhoods.
RBVa and ACORN invite you to experience the history of 2407 East Grace Street and appreciate the the extraordinary and extensive restoration of this beautiful Greek Revival house on Friday, October 17th, from 5:30-7:00 pm.
Contractor David Cooley and lead carpenter Joshua Cooley will be on hand to discuss their work while you enjoy light refreshments and beverages.
Please RSVP by October 16th. A donation of $5 is greatly appreciated.

I am trying to get in touch with the owner of the Elmira Shelton House. I am in the process of establishing the Patrick Henry Historical Society (PH was my 4th great grandfather) and I have been given the task of finding a home for fellow descendants’ belongings. I’m not interested in purchasing the house but am interested in forming a business arrangement with the owner for possible rental. I will appreciate any assistance.
