Shooting on S Street
A reader has the details of yesterday’s gun play on S Street:
There was a shoot out yesterday afternoon on S St. just off of Oakwood Ave not long after kids got home from school. Apparently two young men were chasing after a group of young teenagers down the side walk while shooting. I heard one person was shot and taken to the hospital. Several blocks were taped off and bullet holes were left in at least one house and my wife’s truck. We heard about it when we arrived home that evening from a neighbor who kindly showed us the bullet hole in the truck, but I haven’t seen anything else about it on the news or this site. Anybody have anymore details?
The police daily gives us this:
1st AGGRAVATED ASSAULT (SHOOTING)
10/8/08 4:20 p.m.
3400 block of S Street
A male reported he was shot by an unknown suspect. His injuries are not life threatening.
hmmm… there was some kind of craziness going on last night around Cedar, Jesamine, and 23rd. It looked like every firetruck, ambulance, and police car in richmond came down with lights flashing to hang out – though there were no sirens or sense of urgency. Some of the police and fire personnel were also out of their vehicles and roaming the alleys with flashlights, looking around, taking their time. Others were scanning with the searchlights on their cruisers.
This was about midnight, Wed. night. Not sure if it was related to the fun on S street… it was definitely weird and surreal-ish.
Interesting. When someone was robbed and assaulted at 28th and Clay about a month ago, there were no sirens either just a bunch of flashing lights. Every police car in the city seemed to show up to see what was going on.
Yeah…I noticed that as well. Very odd! There were several fire trucks and, at one point, they were just stopped on the corner of Jesamine and 23rd. I also noticed many police cars circling for quite some time. Didn’t see the ambulances or anyone in the alleys but it was quite strange…does anyone know any more about what occurred then by chance?
Hmm, so this must be why they cancelled football practice. I never saw anything in the news or paper.
