Newbille out of contention?
01/30/2009 10:13 AM by John M
Folks that know stuff are saying that Cynthia Newbille has removed herself from consideration for the City Council 7th District seat appointment.
Good news!
Being reported by the RTD
Rumor confirmed.
I hate to see ANYONE get dragged in the mud but considering that she wanted to get mired up with the McQuinn/Marsh machine and follow the lead, she had it coming. If she would have only been honest and upfront from the beginning and ANSWERED questions posed to her then maybe the outcome could have been different concerning her name? Instead she remained silent rather than taking a defensive stand which speaks volumes about where she stood. I guess she never heard of campaigning?
Eric
As a follow-up.. I also just heard she will drop from the temporary appointment but will still run in November. Hope she will be more open between now and then “if” anything said against her isn’t the truth?
TD is confirming she has withdrawn but intends to run in November.
She spelled Graziano’s name wrong ….. so much for Newbille’s attention to detail. Like that other little detail…. living in Henrico, but wanting to be appointed to represent the City’s 7th District simply because she has a job there and friends in high places.
Details, who needs ’em?
Chris DOVI & Style Weekly deliver once again!
If that were the case, I believe that would be the best for the district. Again, nothing against Ms. Newbille. My objection was the issue of moving into the 7th district on January 1st to qualify. From the research I did, I respect what she has done in the community and would encourage her to live in the 7th and run in the next election.
We should still be pushing for the council appointment to be public!
This is true. Time to build upon this success.
One candidate did not submit questionaire.
WHO?
Here are Matt Conrad’s answers to the questionnaire.
I wonder ….. is Newbille actually living in the place she rented in the 7th. Does she still own/rent the place she ‘moved from’.
Cynthia will win in November. We are going to make sure of that.To all the nay sayers, and negative persons who sling folks name in the mud, God Bless You. This site is a joke. The lady is from the east end ,graduated from Armstrong, and worked at the FRC for 10 months for free. You all ought to be ashamed of yourselves.
You know Anthony, I grew up in a neighborhood – went to school there, my family roots go back five or six generations, my family still lives there. I have worked in that community and I have volunteered in that community. I do not live in that community. Since I have CHOSEN not to be a resident of that community I do not feel I have the right to represent that community in a political body. It is beyond my understanding why that is such a difficult concept to grasp. I can’t imagine what the folks at CPN have to be ashamed of. I think Newbille should be ashamed of trying to become part of a manipulative political process that attempted to ignore the very neighborhood she wants to represent. Your kind of nastiness may sink her in November.
looks like betty squire will have to carry the water for marsh
anthony… it isn’t a matter of where she grew up but where she lives now and how out of touch she is with the 7th district needs.
Also, I still have yet to hear how she stands on the historic preservation and restoration aspect of our nationally registered district?
Eric
Eric #18, it isn’t about preservation of anything except Henry Marsh’s continued hold over the district and lining his pockets from developers.
Bill #17- you’re sure? Do you think she wants to do that?
RE: #15 – I kind of hate to say this, but your posts always make me laugh. It’s a gleeful laugh, not a cynical one, for what that’s worth.
The swami-like conviction of your predictions of the future is very amusing, and I always appreciate that when I read one of your posts.
anthony, are you are working to get someone elected on govt time using a govt computer that i helped pay for???
anthony, if the answer is yes, i want my money back. tell me where you are and i will come and get it.
#16. Well said !!!!
lol…
Wowzer… Couldn’t have said it better myself. Thanks!
How is wilder moving into richmond in 2004 to run for mayor different from cynthia newbille moving east end to run for city council?
That isn’t any different. What rubbed folks the wrong way was someone moving to be *appointed*.
RE: Post # 26
ROFL …WHooooah!!!! … OMG … and what fun the last four years were!
WHY in the world would anyone think that was an idea worth repeating?
At least Wilder went through the motions of running for the office.
crd, ask your people
Moving to be “appointed” by someone that had pre-choosen a person “they” wanted to be appointed.
There is a two-fold problem on the surface, more as you study the situation.
