Frog Bottom Farm offers CSA pick-up in Church Hill
03/16/2009 6:00 AM by John M
Frog BottomCSA has announced 2 Richmond pick-up locations, one of which is the Central Montessori School on 20th Street:
Lisa and Ali Moussalli, owners of Frog Bottom Farm, a 25-acre community supported vegetable farm in Appomattox County […] are accepting applications for the Frog Bottom Farm 2009 CSA. We’ll be doing drop-offs in Charlottesville, Richmond and Roanoke, and other places too, depending on interest. You’re also very welcome to pick up your weekly share of vegetables at the farm!
Frog Bottom is the only CSA that I know of with an East End drop, please let me know if I’m missing anybody.
I think at least one CSA has pickups at the Farmer’s Market. Not sure of which one though.
Victory Farms is doing pick ups at the Farmers Market too.
I’ve never heard of CSA’s. Sounds interesting… how about a little story on what they are and how they work…
Two sources of Info:
http://www.BuyLocal Virginia.org (Piedmont Environmental Council.)
http://www.localharvest.org/csa/.
Both have good information
should read http://www.BuyLocalVirginia.org
Anyone have any experience with frog bottom farm or is it new to our area? What about fertile crescent farm located on local harvest website? I would be very interested but am inexperienced in this area.
Yvonne, my girl friend and I just bought a share in Frog Bottom, will let you know what it’s like when we start getting produce (which I think will be in late April). I can tell you already that they are very responsive about replying to emails, and the woman who answered my email sounded very friendly as well as helpful.
Fertile Crescent and CCL are good.
I have spoken with the owners at a meet and get info thing at my daughter’s school in church hill and it seems like a great deal and the people were really nice. Organic – no pesticides etc. and they will bring each week from June to October/Nov.
Doesn’t Amy’s still do a shares pick-up at the farmer’s market too?
We found a place called Agriberry that only does fruit/berries. I think they participate at 17th street farmers market. see below for more info:

We bought a share with Frog Bottom too. Our CSA last year (Victory Farms) stopped having convenient pick-ups for us.
