City Council agenda for 3/23
The agenda for tonight’s City Council meeting has a few items of local interest, including a vote to establish a Shade Tree Commission, the sale of a lot on 22nd Street to Richmond Affordable Housing, and the providing of matching funds to acquire computers for the local libraries.
Ord. No. 2008-306 (Patron: Mr. Hilbert) – To amend *** the Code *** for the purpose of establishing procedures and guidelines for the maintenance and removal of trees on City-owned property and to establish a Shade Tree Commission. (Recommendation from Land Use, Housing and Transportation Standing Committee to Strike)
Ord. No. 2009-14 (Patron: Mayor Jones, By Request) – To direct the sale of surplus real estate located at 1204 North 22nd Street to Richmond Affordable Housing for $14,000.
Ord. No. 2009-19 (Patron: Mayor Jones) – To *** accept *** $58,500 from the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation; to transfer $19,500 in matching funds from the Fiscal Year 2008-2009 General Fund Budget, *** and to appropriate the total amount of $78,000 to the *** Richmond Public Library account for the purpose of purchasing computers for public use at seven library branches.
Why are they meeting on Thursday?
I believe it was the presentation of the mayors future budget…
If I would have checked my calendar I would have realized 3/23 WAS Monday. Doh!
Last night I think there were a couple district meetings, one downtown and on on the northside, both of which I missed.
I asked Charles Samuels if they could start streaming committee meanings online as it’s very difficult to attend these afternoon meetings unless you are Silver Persinger.

Of course you’re right again and my calendar skills remain unredeemed, which is why I miss so many meetings.
