BHC’s Community Day @ Beckstoffer’s

The Better Housing Coalition had their Community Day today at the former Beckstoffer’s Mill. Food was served, kids bounced in a moon bounce, community groups had tables set up, and tours were given of the now vacant mill.

The building is empty, but very raw. Several of the old tools are still in place and will be retained as the property is developed.

Across the street from the development is the old Good Shepherd Baptist Church. Currently vacant, the building is owned by the Delta House Foundation who, word has it, have plans to use the property as a sorority headquarters.

Work has begun on the 3 houses to be renovated as part of Beckstoffer’s project. Work on the frame house on the corner will be filmed as part of a house renovation television show. BHC hopes to break ground on the main development by the end of the year.
