Suggest a good lawnmower repairman?
04/08/2009 9:01 AM by John M
It’s that time of year and I’ve gotten the question a few times in the past week or so: is there a good lawnmower repair guy around, for tune-ups or getting’em started again after a long winter?
I think it’s called Forest Hill Small Engine Repair, on Hull Street, about 1 mile east of Chippenham. (It used to be on Forest Hill Avenue)
It’s too easy to do yourself:
Replace the spark plug. You can get this from Lowes or Pep Boys.
Replace the old gas or add new.
Check the oil.
Prime it if you have a primer bulb.
Start. If it doesn’t start after 4-5 pulls, spray some starter fluid on the air filter. It will fire up then. Guaranteed!
Mr. Campbell at 389.3637. He’s only a few miles away near Williamsburg and Masonic. I’ve used Forest Hill Lawn Mower Repair for years but they are a good drive away and their hours are iffy.
Anyone know where I can get the blades of my reel mower sharpened?
My co-worker Page Hardy is a small engine genius. He spends all of his spare time repairing sewing machines, weed-eaters, and most recently, a classic Wheelhorse brand riding lawnmower, complete with cigarette lighter. He used to work on airplanes in the Air Force. If you are willing to drive to Brandermill area, then call him at 739-5019. He loves to tinker.
Capital Repair Services located at 6566 W. Broad Street repairs all types of small engines including lawn mowers, generators, weed eaters, chainsaws, and power washers. It’s not unusual to get your equipment back in a few days to a week depending on the problem and their backlog.
Any golf course can sharpen reel mowers. Its called lapping or back-lapping. Just sweet talk or state your plight. You will propbably have to slip the mechanic a twenty.
Just go to the old service station at 25th and E. Main that now does small engine repair and service. Quick service, reasonable prices, and CONVENIENT.
