UHCA’s next meeting is a picnic!
UHCA President Matt Conrad recently sent out a reminder that the next Union Hill Civic Association meeting will be at Jefferson Park:
The first of our summer picnics is nearly upon us and it is going to be an amazing time! After much anticipation, the Friends of Jefferson Park and the City of Richmond Parks, Recreation and Community Facilities will be unveiling the plans for restoration of OUR park’s hillside stairs and bandstand. We will be one step closer to making Jefferson Park the jewel of the City that we know it can be! The festivities will begin at 7:00 p.m. on June 17th at Jefferson Park.
Following the presentation, the Union Hill Civic Association and the Friends of Jefferson Park will hold a community potluck dinner. Please let Bill Conkle (junkifunki@aol.com) or me know what you plan to bring to the picnic or if you are willing to serve on the social/hospitality committee. This will be a great evening of fellowship and fun as we celebrate our neighborhood.
Here are some of the things we need in addition to side dishes (potato salad, mac and cheese, etc.):
Gas Grill, Sodas, Water, Burgers/Dogs, Buns, Fixings, Paper Products, Tables, Covered Dishes
To be polite, can people that do not live in the UHCA neighborhood attend?
Deanna, Friends of Jefferson Park gatherings are open to everyone who cares about the park. And it’s always been the UHCA’s policy to welcome any and all comers at those meetings, too.
Please come to Jefferson Park next Wednesday; you will be welcomed with good food and smiles (bring some of your own, too.)
That same night, we’ll learn more about the restoration of the Jefferson Park hillside stairs and other park improvements.
All are welcome! We hope to pass out fliers door-to-door this weekend to catch all of the folks who don’t use email or read CHPN. Please help us spread the word. See you then!
Excellent! I love that area. It holds so much promise.
I will do my best to be there. Thanks!!!
Picnic is still on for Wednesday evening-7pm there will be a presentation on the stabilization and restoration of the park hillside.
Picnic postponed until July, the presentation is still on for 7pm.
Just got word from Matt & Bill that the picnic will be postponed due to expected rain.
However, the meeting with Larry Miller of City Parks & Rec regarding the hillside restoration, will take place tonite at 7pm.
We’ll plan on meeting at the bandstand/park house. If its raining too hard to be comfortable, or if a t-storm is emminent, we’ll move indoors to 2314 Jefferson Ave/Church Hill Photography at 24th and Jefferson.
