07/02/2009 6:20 AM by John M
The Department of Parks, Recreation and Community Facilities kicks off 2009 Movie Night in the Park tonight with a showing of Madagascar: Escape 2 Africa at Jefferson Hill Park. The showing will begin around dark.
pass the word that tonite is Jefferson Park’s night at the movies. Apx 8:30pm til 10pm. Thanks to the City Dept of Parks, Recreation and Community Facilities. No admission charge!!
the movie starts at dark, not 8:30, for clarification.
Is it going to be on a projection?
Sunset tonite is 8:35 and usually very beautiful from the park.
The outdoor projection screen is huge and should make for a great viewing experience!
The movie screen is 27 feet tall and 22 feet wide. Note: You have to bring a blanket and chairs and your own refreshments for the movie.
Movie night was a huge success. Lots of folks showed up- especially kids who really seemed to have a good time watching a movie under the night sky. Everyone picked up their trash (and their neighbor’s trash) to leave the park like they found it. Someone said it felt like a real city in Jefferson Park tonight.
On behalf of the Friends of Jefferson Park, I would like to thank the City for bringing movie night to Union Hill. We will continue to request and plan special activities in the park and we welcome everyone’s involvement in enhancing our park and green space.
