National Night Out roundup
07/08/2009 9:48 AM by John M
The 26th Annual National Night Out is set for Tuesday, August 4th. Every year neighborhoods around the city and country host events on this night. New Visions Civic League will be hosting a friendly get together in the 1200 block of 23rd Street starting around 6PM. The combined Union Hill and and Church Hill (UHA/CHA) Associations will hold a combined pot-luck at Jefferson Park starting at 6:30PM. Anything else going on?
Not sure if there is an official announcement yet, but the Neighborhood Resource Center will be having an event, with demonstrations from several of the program participants. I teach a martial art there and we will participate along with dance, photography, and others.
August 4 is National Night Out in all of Richmond, VA and we on the Hill will be having a big event for everyone. The combined Union Hil, Church Hill and other local associations are holding a combined picnic pot-luck event in Jefferson Park on that evening. This is a Tuesday and the Church Hill portion will begin with a walk from Chimborazo Park with the CHAT kids at 5:00 to Chimbo Playground Park AT 5:15, to Libby Hill Park at 5:25, to Patrick Henery Park at 5:35, to the Overlook by Child Savers at 5:45 and end up in Jefferson Park for the big combined event about 6pm. You can meet the National Night Out walk at any one of the parks along the way or at the final destination of Jefferson Park. If you have food to bring to the event and are walking the parks to get there we will have a vehicle to put your dishes/foods in to transport them to Jeffersn Park. At Jefferson Park will be fun things to do, events, great food, drinks, discussions on safety, crime prevention and good citizenship.
Please mark you calendar and come up for this great event supporting our city’s police, fire and other public servants.
More detail over the next week…..so stayed tuned.
