A Hard Days Night and Second Flyte set for the Robinson

11/03/2009 11:05 AM by

A Hard Days Night & Second Flyte (Beatles and Byrds tribute bands) will play at the Robinson Theater on November 14 as part of a fundraiser for Sportable, a local non-profit that sponsors recreation and sports programs to those injured or born with a disability.

On November 14th, just a few days after National Veteran’s Day (November 11th), Robinson Theater will be host to a musical performance by two acclaimed 60’s tribute bands, taking us back in time and reminding us of the sacrifices and commitment made by past and present military heroes.

The event is organized by Sportable, a local non-profit that targets it’s recreation and sports programs to those injured or born with a disability. Sportable was started by Kristen Lessig, a Certified Recreational Therapist and staff member at McGuire Veterans Hospital. Money raised during the event will directly benefit Sportable’s ongoing programs such as Wheelchair Basketball, Soccer, Tennis and Baseball.

“This event is a great opportunity for Beatles and Byrd’s fans to experience the sounds of these legendary bands while giving back to the community” says Lessig. Sportable will hold this event only a few days after National Veterans Day and days before a regional Sportable basketball tournament held at St. Christophers School and bringing together wheelchair athletes from Virginia, North Carolina, Maryland, and Philadelphia.
