Oliver Lawrence seeking home confinement? (UPDATED)
11/04/2009 6:34 PM by John M
A source tells us that notorious slumlord Oliver Lawrence will return to court tomorrow and will be seeking home confinement for the 70 days to which he was sentenced last week.
Awesome. Who gets to pick out the house he’s going to stay in? Plenty of great options!
#1 – I like it!!
My vote? Confinement in the worst of his properties for twice his sentence.
A good part of the sentence would be putting him to work on clearing the vacant lots of trash, weeds around his abandoned houses, etc
There is a Joe Pesci movie about this. I think it was “My Cousin Vinny”.
Isaac T. Graves at the Examiner says that Lawrence has indeed been offered the opportunity to serve the time in one of his own dilapidated houses:
The movie was called “The Super.”
Richmond property owner Lawrence may serve sentence on home confinement (RTD 11/5/09)
is there any way we can petition Judge Gaden to make that decision? I think it would be poetic justice.
Not sure if this will work. If not, RTD has an article on his sentencing. http://www2.timesdispatch.com/rtd/l…
Extra Extra read all about it… http://www2.timesdispatch.com/rtd/l…
Can anybody state the exact address of the house on 19th Street that he will be staying at?
John, actually 19th Street becomes Cedar Street once you go north of Broad Street. Does it become 19th again at any point? Or stay Cedar Street?
I don’t know the address of the house he’s to stay at, but if that narrows it down a bit, maybe we could figure it out? 19th Street from Canal or where ever it starts (Cary?) to Broad isn’t that much to cover in the city database.
He owns 1426, 1428, 1430 and 1432 N 19th Street. Bayou Properties owns 1429 and 1439 N 19th Street. This information is from the City of Richmond’s Property Search.
Okay, so obviously 19th Street at some point goes back to being 19th Street and Cedar Street continues. John, given that there are six choices of houses, from post #14 by Me (NOT me!!!! LOL) what do you propose to do with that information?
And from the for what it’s worth dept. – if he does the next thirty days in city jail, then he will start the forty days on home confinement in December, brrr, in a vacant house most likely with no heat or utilities….sounds fitting punishment to me. I noted that the Times Dispatch confirmed that his house in Ashland is a million dollar property.
The RTD gives the address:
Some of his homes are being forclosed upon in the Petersburg area: http://www.progress-index.com/1.419350
I wonder if he owes back taxes on Richmond properties, and if so, why are they not forcing him to auction them?
Come on, now. Even murderers get to have heat in the wintertime. Give me a break. Next we will be talking about feeding him to the lions.
RE #17 – I was wondering that, too.
