Two new civic association are born in Church Hill North
Residents of Church Hill North met last night at EDI on 25th Street to follow-up on a September meeting aimed at organizing a civic association for the under-represented area. After much enthusiastic debate, the group decided to form 2 organizations: a civic association to align with the boundaries of the Church Hill North Old & Historic District and an organization for the area roughly north of that to Nine Mile Road.

There was a lot of confusion last night and what I (and others) felt was a rush to vote. My impression was that the organization that would extent north of N would also include the O&H distric. Most of those I spoke to were not interested in another limited/non-inclusive civic association. The post above implies that there are two organizations that don’t overlap! I hope that is not the case and I don’t believe, if it is, that it would be a viable unless they limit themselve the CAR issues. It’s not within the ‘spirit’ of what is driving the creation of a new civic association. In the end it does not matter what has happened to date everything is in flux, nothing is finale, most of us are open to new ideas and possibl future changes. There is however a strong core group that will grow and develope into something worthwhile.
Just to clarify, our group is very early in its formation stages but very excited to start engaging the community. We don’t have clearly defined boundaries. As such, anyone is welcome to attend.

I think we need another association to make sure that the associations’ associates know which association to associate with.
The Old and Historic district north of Broad is within Church Hill Central’s area of interest as is areas further north. No such division as posted above exists.
