100 days

It has been 100 days since the last murder in the East End. This three-months-plus quiet spell is the longest in the 5 years that this site has been publishing and, given the numbers over the last decade, is probably the longest such stretch in at least 10 years.
As we keep pointing out, killings in the East End are down this year from last year’s already low count. Although murder city-wide has ticked up from last year, the “notorious” East End continues to show improvement. There have been only 9 people killed by other people in the East End this year, as compared to 12 at this time through 2008.

Amazing considering all those shots I heard back and forth Saturday night. It’s not like they’re trying.
