03/14/2010 12:05 PM by John M
John Jones, assistant manager from The Market@Tobacco Row, has been missing since about midnight Wednesday, March 10. Age 48 Ht 5’9 Wt 150-165 lbs, last seen wearing black pants, a white dress shirt, and a tan hat. Please contact the police at (804)646-5100 if you know anything.
Was he last seen at The Market or somewhere else?
So sad. 🙁 I see him 2, 3 times a week when I run in for groceries. I hope he is OK.
WHAT?
Thanks letting us know!
Please note that the number at the top of the page should be 646-5100, NOT 5400. Thanks!

FIXED thanks!
They found Mr. Jones in his home. Believed to have passed away from a heart attack. My prayers are with his family.
I went with the search party and I was moved by the support from the community. There were between 50-60 of us looking for him. John was such a great guy. I knew him from shopping at the Market, and he always greeted me with a big warm hug. God bless John and his family. He will be missed.
Sad to hear that. He was one of the nicest people that worked in that store.
I’m so sorry, he was a great guy.
Paz, glad you went with the search party, sorry for the unhappy ending. James #8 I agree.
I DIDNT KNOW YOU PERSONALLY JOHN, BUT YOU WERE ALWAY AT THE MARKET EVERYTIME I WENT IN THERE. I WILL MISS YOU.!!
Oh no! I am so sorry to hear this. He was always so nice to me 🙁
I am so saddened by this news. John was a wonderful and warm person with a big smile everytime I went into The Market. It was apparent that customer service was important to him. My thoughts and prayers are with his family. What a loss!
Wonder how someone could go missing in his home?
Paul #13, I hope you are being sarcastic. Obviously he left work and then didn’t return…and he was a valued employee who wouldn’t miss work without calling in. I’d say he probably lived alone, and no one thought to look in his house initially.
He really was a great guy from my encounters at the market, he used to offer to carry my groceries to my car.
He was a valued employee and a great co-worker and manager. If anyone has anything good to say about Mr.Jones stop by The Market at Tobacco Row 2320 East Main Street and pick up a customer comment card. As well donations will be taken for his family. All comments will be featured in our companys monthly paper.
John K. Jones was not just a co-worker to us at The Market, but he was Our Family. He was a very dedicated, hard working man. Anyone that came into contact with him, was always left with a smile. He had a true passion for his work and caring about others came natural for him. We will miss you, and love you forever. R.I.P
I never saw this man not moving, or not doing something. He was a very earnest and forthright type of person…you didn’t have to be a personal friend to see that.
I hope when my day comes that people will say the same of me.
I was truely saddened when I heard about Mr. Jones passing away which was so sudden. I worked with him a few years ago @ the market and developed a positive relationship with him. He was always there when I needed him and so kind hearted and he was always in a good mood. He was just like a 2nd father to me, he is truel loved and will be missed. My prayers go out to his family, stay strong for eachother cause that’s what he would have wanted….R.I.P John I love you:-(
He was always working so hard in the Market. I am a nearly daily shopper there and did not know him personally but saw him all the time and spoke with him many times.
I cried when i heard he was dead. im glad to hear others noticed the same work ethic in him that i did.
GREAT comment katzenjaammer!
I am going to miss seeing John Jones at the Market. He was always kind to me and my sons and consistently went above and beyond in providing excellent customer service.
