This is a $20k house
04/13/2010 10:15 AM by John M
This house is for sale for $19,900.
Here are the same two houses circa early 1990s (check out the whole block!):
I hope the future owner renovates this house to at least complement the adjacent one.
yeah it looked better abandoned.
Looked better abandoned? It might not be an historic restoration but at least it’s a step in the right direction. At 20k it’s a pretty cheap starting point for anyone that wants to take it to the next level.
The house looks pretty awful. It’s why we need historic districts. Hope it’s sold to a person who will make it better.
Whoever renovated this knew nothing about achitecture… just money.
At least with this renovation, it’s livable and that’s better for a neighborhood than abandonment and blighted properties. Take a look around Church Hill. Not every house is a perfect historical renovation, but is someone’s home. If you want all the houses to look perfect and all the same, move to the burbs. Church Hill doesn’t need an HOA.

Far more than its exterior appearance, I’m concerned about the quality of the construction and the existing condition: if a house is sold this cheaply, it usually requires many tens of thousands more to make it a safe and comfortable home. Then there’s the age and efficiency of the systems to consider, among many other things.
what do you want for 20000?yeah ,we need a HOA. that way nobody can afford to do any work at all to it. that way ,knowitall dipshits can weigh in on how somebody else spends their own money.the only thing funnier is when you can steal a house courtesy of the bottom feeding folks at va. capital realty. if you have the money to pay a high dollar contractor and navigate the city bureaucracy you probably wouldnt be comfortable in this gentrifying area. instead wait until the neighborhood is turned into a defacto gated community and all the people who live there are forced out of their homes as property values rise and the taxes go up. then you can buy the house and feel like an urban pioneer poser. buddycorbett
my name is buddy assbutt. i post under my own name because i am a big strong man. i can beat you up. i am the original knowitall dipshit. the rest are posers. buttyassbutt
@butty – You made your point fairly clearly in the other comment. Can I ask that this please not become your regular response to a comment by Buddy?
Not a problem John, as you said…just making a point. I do wonder if it’s still OK for Buddy to continue to threaten other posters and call them schmucks, gutless turds, dipshits, comment on the size of their balls, etc. 100% of his posts are hateful and demeaning. No rebuke for him? I’m just saying…
I have had much dialog with Mr.Corbett 🙂
how do you threaten a ghost? u have the advantage on me but i suspect sneaking around is your normal mode of contact. u make my point poser, lack of responsobility for attribution encourages meanspitedness. i bet you r the toughest gal on your lacrosse squad. love, buddycorbett

thanks gary i know u when i see u,much love buddycorbett. hey mr assbut your mom would say hi but her mouth is full
Interesting how my post requesting buddy mature a little got deleted, yet his insulting posts remain. The guy obviously has issues, and immunity to censorship.
Hey James,
I haven’t held anything of yours that I remember, so nothing recently anyway. If you had a comment pulled back in April, I don’t remember what it was but I probably had a reason. If you’ve lost one recently, it might’ve gotten tagged as spam – that happens sometimes. (Or are you referring to this comment of yours on this other post where y’all are bumping heads?)
I’m weary of the outrage and conversation about the outrage over Buddy. He says things in a particular way, which reads as confrontational. I’ve come to reach an understanding about his rhetorical style, in that he’s not actually out whomping on people and that in person actually comes across as quite amiable. Trust me when I say that I have had more direct conversation with Buddy about his comments on this site than everyone else put together. Buddy pushes the line and occasionally obviously goes over, and these comments you never know about or see.
I’d prefer not to have to hold comments, but doing so has helped make this a better place to read. I am reluctant to hold comment, which means that stuff gets through that I am not keen on, but I try to err on the side of lesser interference. This means that you (and Buddy) can probably keep getting away with being assholes to each other if you’d really like to make that what you do, but, you know, whatever.
Does anyone know what ever happened to Fairmount Elementart School. I went there in the 70’s Mr. Collins was the principal at the time I attended & my all time favorite teacher Mrs. Talitha Charity.
