Two on found and seen dogs:
Found two female (one brown and one golden retrevers) holding them at at 2710 E. Grace St. No collars or ID’s but very well behaved dogs. Please call JJ 804 814 1066 or e-mail mksm1@msn.com
Someone’s black male dog with a red collar is hanging out on the corner of 25th and Clay
Tags. Tags. Tags. Tags. Tags. Tags. Seriously, my compassion for “stray” dogs is wearing thin. Now I have an idea of how an ACO. Feels.
I saw the black male dog with the red collar on 25th street. Looks like a lab/hound mix. Certainly barks like a hound. I tried to entice him with some bread, but he’s very skittish. He does not have any tags on.
Ho
/ho. Damn.
Word is the black dog was hit by a car then ran off into the small wooded area between St John’s and the gift shop. Tried for an 1.5hrs to get him with no luck. Was unable to locate his “guardians either.
the girls are getting new collars and tags today thanks JJ for finding them!!!!!
Crystal-
You are absolutely 100% correct. It can’t be stressed enough.
Animals escape. Even mine, who are content to spend nearly every waking minute by my side when I’m home, have taken their own little adventures from time to time. The difference is that they have multiple tags, are microchipped, and lastly, insured. Will that ensure a safe return home every time? Obviously not, but it sure as hell makes everyone’s job a lot easier on the rare occasion that they do slip out.
Pet owners. Take a few minutes out of your day and spend a few extra bucks….these painless extra steps can save you a lot of heartache, grief and aggravation down the road!
$20 R-SPCA microchip clinic May 10.

My friend found that black dog Friday on the exit ramp by Bryant Park, heading onto I95 and certain death. She managed to get him in her car, but when she tried to bring him home to Church Hill, he escaped and she spent two hours trying to catch him! He’s young, but maybe not to soon to be chipped. Hopefully someone will catch him soon but if you do, hold onto him – he’s slippery!
The two female dogs returned safe and sound to the owners and all are happy. It would have been easier with tags etc. This is the third time, I found and held dogs for owners but collars and tags, would have made the experience easier, faster and less stressful for all concerned. JJ
Have there been any more sighting of the black dog with the red collar? I rescued him from the I-95 on ramp and then lost him trying to get into my house. I may have found the owners on Craigslist so appreciate any updates
i tried to get the black dog to last friday. he was not having it! god i hope he is going to be ok. i wonder about his owners!!
girls did get new collars and names tags with info thanks JJ…now time to fix the fence!!!
@Kate M. Kate, saw the black dog this morning at 6 a.m. when I was walking Freda and Phoebe. It was in the 400 and 500 blocks of N. 26th. Saw it again across from the Post Office on N. 25th. Wouldn’t come to us. Kept barking – sounds like a hound. Doesn’t appear to be limping or anything. Wouldn’t come to us.
