The smallest house in Richmond?
06/06/2010 7:00 AM by John M
At 315 square feet, this house at 2607 Nine Mile Road may be Richmond’s smallest house. There is another delightful little house just around the corner at 1420 North 27th Street that tops out at 842 square feet.
ABOVE: 2607 Nine Mile Road // BELOW: 1420 North 27th Street
These two make the previous round of small houses seem absolutely gargantuan.
I love this little white house on 9 mile Rd. Whenever i drive by (when I should be walking/biking by,) I admire it and feel grateful that it’s still standing.
Small homes like these, mixed in with larger structures, gives our neighborhood a distinct character. This illustrates how we can have a community that provides housing for everyone, no matter how small or large the household.
Love these – its like having a studio apartment, but in house form.
Big fan of small houses- they use less energy and are more affordable. More and more people in our society live alone as they grow older, so these micro houses make a lot of sense.

One thing I have experienced and I am wondering if this matches elsewhere is that the micro houses are retaining property value better than other sized houses.
In a place like that, you’d turn around and bump into yourself :-p
I couldn’t even keep my shoes in 315 sq ft
I suggested that both houses be preserved/moved if the hospital expands into that block.
This house on Albemarle Street is pretty small, too.

The old working people’s houses always seem to get ignored and no respect. I’m glad there are others still around.
All the houses are gone. The only building on the block is the big brick one. 🙁 I doubt they moved them as was suggested when DPZ was here. This “historic” city does not appreciate all of its history.
