Homicide numbers remain lower

As of yet for 2010 there have been 7 homicides in the East End and 20 across the entire city. At this point in 2009, there had also been 7 killings in the East End and 28 for Richmond as a whole.
In 2008, the best year since at least 1971, Richmond had seen 21 homicides by now. In 1994, when Richmond had 161 killings, by mid-June Richmond had a murder count in the mid-60s and had seen 23 people killed in April alone (and would collect another 25 in August).
Four of the 7 killings in the East End have been cleared by arrest or the death of the offender, as have 15 of 20 for the city.
TAGGED: crime
