The latest entry in the Historic Richmond Foundation’s Under the Radar series on “properties and/or history in jeopardy” spotlights 1200 North 23rd Street.
This Beautiful Folk Victorian, in Historic Fairmount in Church Hill, is available and waiting for the right person to bring her back to life. It was built in 1900 and boasts typical features of the period, such as its delicate spindlework, brackets under the eaves, and its symmetrical design. The rise of industrialization made it easier and more affordable to add decorative details to otherwise simple homes. Decorative architectural trim could be mass produced, and details could be mixed and matched. This home is indicative of the style. It is listed at $84,950.
